About
Dr. Rob Pappas
Dr. Robert S. Pappas holds a Ph.D. in Physical Organic Chemistry from the University of Tennessee and a B.A. in Chemistry from Indiana University. Currently, Dr. Pappas is the President and Technical Director of Essential Oil University located in Charlestown, Indiana. Dr. Pappas is involved in formulation and analytical testing services for the essential oils industry, in addition to other industries such as cosmetics, fragrance, flavoring and personal care. Essential Oil University is a world leader in the wholesale and bulk supplier of essential oils many different industries and hosts the largest online database in the world concerning the chemical breakdown of essential oils and a clinical database of therapeutic action of essential oils.
Dr. Pappas enjoyed several years as an educator in the field of chemistry and initiated research in the areas of essential oils, fragrances and flavors. His technical skills are extensive and include solvent extraction, fractional distillation and steam distillation, various chromatographic methods, organic synthesis and purification techniques. Dr. Pappas has had several articles published in the Journal of the American Chemical Society and the Journal of Essential Oil Research, and was the recipient of various academic honors and awards including the Hilton A. Smith graduate fellowship at the University of Tennessee as well as Chemistry Student of the Year 1990 as an undergraduate at Indiana University.
