Teleconferences

AIA's Teleconference was held on May 18, 2011

Our Presenter:Wendy Gormly-Kester, RA

Topic:The Aromatic Equine

About the Teleconference:
At the Kentucky Horse Park, an inscription reads “History was written on the back of the horse”, reminding us the debt civilization as we know it owns to Equus caballus. Once an instrument of war, labor and transportation, today’s equines are best friends, amazing athletes, fierce competitors and caring therapists. In this teleconference we will explore the intuitive nature of horses and their instinctive attraction to essential oils.  Also covered will be the influence of human emotions on these sensitive creatures, often resulting in behavioral and training challenges and how complimentary aromatherapy between horse and rider can be an effective solution.

Meet Wendy Gormly-Kester
Wendy Gormly-Kester is co-founder of Soothing Science, LLC™ and formulator for Alchemolgy™ Apothecary & Natural Perfumery, located in Capitola – the oldest sea side resort town in California.  She studied aromatherapy under Valerie Cooksley at the Institute of Integrative Aromatherapy and became a Registered Aromatherapist in 2010. Wendy has also studied equine sports massage therapy with Equinology and equine aromatherapy under Kelly Holland-Azzaro.

Wendy is the AIA Pacific Regional Representative and a member of NAHA. She has been an avid equestrian for 34 years, with an emphasis on dressage during the past 18 years. In addition to her work with horses, Wendy also focuses on creating therapeutic blends for insomnia, contact dermatitis and Alzheimer’s/dementia. Wendy lives in the Santa Cruz Mountains of northern California with her husband, several dogs & cats, and her horse Strange Brew, who has an affinity for French population Lavandula angustifolia.
