Spring Letter from the President
The Spring Equinox is right around the corner! Spring is a time of new life and energy. In the Northern hemisphere, days lengthen. This increasing illumination promotes enthusiasm to connect with people and acquire new knowledge. That’s part of the reason I am over the moon excited about our upcoming AIA conference. Amanda Lattin and the Conference Committee assembled an amazing array of speakers and topics. Check out our sponsors, speakers & agenda on the AIA website. The title of our 2023 International Virtual Conference is Aromatherapy Research, Safety, and Application – Inspiring Momentum In Our Profession. On day one, we focus on research updates, including two research intensives. Jessie Hawkins will clarify “How to Design a Case Series Study”. Jacqui Stringer continues the theme by describing “Outcomes Assessment Best Practices For Aromatherapy Research or Case Studies.” On day two, our speakers share information on safety, regulation, and application. The Evolution of a Class Assignment to Published Research Studies with Susan Kristiniak DHA, MSN, RN, AHN-BC, NEA-BC, IAC
The presenter will describe the journey of how reviewing an article by Jane Buckle, highlighting her students' projects for a hospital's aromatherapy program, prompted a research study to improve vein visualization that was published for interdisciplinary readers in 2012 and was later replicated in 2021. The review will assess the quality of each of the studies using the TREATS checklist and prompt the participants to consider how to further develop this ideation and sense of inquiry to future studies.

Blinded, placebo-controlled clinical trial to evaluate the “intangible” benefits of aromatherapy on human health.
The Alliance of International Aromatherapists is pleased to be a sponsor for the “Intangibles” study being done by the Franklin Health Research Foundation (FHRF) on those therapeutic effects of essential oils that you haven’t been able to quite put your finger on—until now.
Please join us in furthering the advance of essential oil science by donating today. We have committed to $25,000. We can’t raise it without you. Together, we can help the FHRF to verify some of the therapeutic effects of essential oils that have hitherto been unquantifiable.
With the psychological measurement tools that have been developed, mood states related to essential oil effects such as grounding, invigorating, calming, or uplifting, can be measured and analyzed to confirm their validity.
Donate today to help bring them to light!
